Who doesn't love a good dupe?

Girls, the real secret is that over a 3rd of the public would rather purchase a dupe of an item, rather than the real thing! #girlmath

Why is this?

Social media influence has normalised buying a dupe rather than splurging on a bag for hundreds of pounds. The increase of awareness of 'fakes' and 'dupes' has increased the availability of these knock off's available. The cost of living crisis has limited the likelihood of the public going for a fancy purchase due to the lack of disposable income. Therefore, demand for fake goods has sky rocketed.

One example that has been trending on TikTok recently is the H & M dupe of the Polene Cyme bag. I have included images of the real vs fake.

Affordable: Comparing this example of the Poleme Cyme Bag with the H & M look a like, you are already saving at least £270.

Low Commitment: With fashion trends consistently evolving, there is a likelihood that fashion trends aren't going to last forever. Therefore, if your purchase goes out of fashion, you didn't splurge £300.

Investment: You aren't just investing in a fashion statement, you are assuring a high quality and durable product. This ensures warranty, as you are paying for the material, which is usually premium quality leather. Due to the quality and warranty, this may become a cost effective purchase, if the cheaper alternative is not as durable.

Brand : When buying a high end product, you are literally buying the label. Typically, these bags are on,y available in high end shops, therefore you enter the experience of purchasing a luxury product with an in-store experience. 

Now I know these bags aren’t absolutely identical, but they are a very close match! Hopefully this provided you with some positive information, that you don’t need to be buying top of the range handbags, and that ‘dupes’ are as good, if not better!
